Floyd County Medical Center

Charles City, Iowa

DESCRIPTION

At Floyd County Medical Center, Henkel Construction Company and our subsidiary Accord Architecture have been providing design and construction management services for well over a decade. Henkel and Accord have partnered to design and construct major projects at FCMC dating back to the 1990’s. These projects include surgery and physical rehab areas, semi-private to private patient room conversion, new pharmacy, waiting, and nurse station areas and significant building systems upgrades.

Recently the hospital recognized a need to reconfigure the facilities’ mechanical systems. Through Accord’s facility planning work the complex project was broken down into phases which will not interrupt hospital operations nor inhibit patient flow or staff operations.  The project includes an addition at the main level of the hospital to house new boilers as well as a vertical addition to house the mechanical penthouse. Associated ductwork and piping will also be replaced in this project along with the construction of a new AHU penthouse. New ducts and piping are to be installed in many areas of the hospital. A temporary AHU will be placed on the roof to serve the southern end of the hospital while two existing AHUs are being replaced.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

“Each project we have pursued was unique and presented special challenges. Existing building limitations and our need to remodel without compromising ongoing operations was not easy, but every project was a success.”

- Bill Faust, CEO at Floyd County Medical Center

“Managing a hospital facility, you have to rely on trustworthy partners to be there to manage the complex work. Henkel and Accord are the clear leaders in healthcare design and construction in our region. They are my only call.”

- Neil Tuttle, Director of Facilities.
