DESCRIPTION
After exploring master planning options with Accord Architecture in 2015, Mitchell County Regional Health Center embarked on a multi-phased, $12 MIL expansion and renovation project that will transform both the hospital and clinic. This project includes approximately 24,000 SF of additional space and 17,000 SF of renovated space. A two-story clinic addition will encompass most of the new addition while the remainder of the expansion will house physical therapy, OT, speech and cardiac rehab areas. The addition also includes a new drive-under canopy and a rooftop heliport with an interior corridor dedicated solely for the Emergency Department’s use. Renovations of the front lobby and registration area will increase the efficiency and overall patient experience. The improvements that are part of this project will also greatly enhance patient safety. Construction began in the spring of 2017 and was completed in the summer of 2019.
A new addition is currently in the design phase that will include a renovation and expansion of the surgery department, allowing orthopedic surgeries and more. This addition is scheduled for bidding in the fall of 2019.
