Gilbert- Franklin Township Fire Station

Gilbert, Iowa

DESCRIPTION

The City of Gilbert and the Franklin Township formed an alliance to construct this community building with three main elements: the fire station, city hall, and community spaces.  A pre-engineered metal building was selected to reduce cost and allow for expansion on the fire engine garage side, should the need arise.  Accord was hired in 2013 and hosted a number of community forum meetings to complete the design.

The garage serves as more than just a place to park fire
engines.  Training occurs in this high-volume space and washing of their trucks and equipment is performed.  Since the opening day of this facility, the community room has been a popular place for celebrations of all kinds, while the city hall room is specifically used for city council meetings and by other community service organizations.  It has been wildly
successful!
