Curries Manufacturing

Mason City, Iowa

DESCRIPTION

A long-time client of Accord's, Curries is a leader in the production of hollow metal door and window frames and now owned by a worldwide leader in this industry, Assa Abloy. One of Accord’s first major projects was the design of the original 9th Street Office for Curries in Mason City, Iowa in the late 80’s. Happy with Accord's work, Curries once again hired Accord for the design of this 217,870 SF precast-concrete tilt-up wall factory building for Curries on 12th Street in Mason City for the production of frames in 1990.  As Curries production thrived and evolved, so did the 12th Street facility.  This included a 51,463 SF distribution center addition in 1997, a 60,000 SF office addition in 1999, and most recently a 54,826 SF expansion for their door line in 2011, bringing the total building size to 372,285 SF!  These additions as well as numerous renovations have all been designed by Accord Architecture.  The 2011 expansion occurred fast with lower cost because the original north precast wall of the frame plant was designed in such a way to allow the easy removal of the precast panels and their reuse on the north side of the new addition.
