Mason City received great news that Golden Grain Energy would construct a major ethanol facility inside the city limits of Mason City in 2003.  Fagen Construction served as the Construction Manager for the project with Henkel Construction and Accord Architecture given the task of designing and building numerous elements, such as the dry distilled grain distribution facility, the shipping/receiving building, and the grain storage silo.  Henkel’s use of slip-forming in the construction of the silo proved to be the perfect construction technique for such a massive structure.
